Alfred Young, III

Director of Music

Alfred Young, III was born to the parents of Alfred, Jr. and Connie Young in Harvey, Illinois.

Since a young age, Alfred has been fascinated with the arts. His first steps as a child were to a drumbeat down the middle aisle of Mount Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Harvey, Illinois. Upon entering grammar school, he immediately became a part of the chorus, and later became a member of his school and district concert band. Alfred’s true love for harmony and singing came from his immediate family. His formal training coach was Phil Ratliff, who successfully trained music ministries with only a lead guitar and a great ear.

As the years progressed, Alfred began directing and teaching his home church choir, as well as other choral ensembles throughout the Chicagoland area. Alfred has recorded and toured internationally with Tyrone Dickerson and Christian Fellowship, Ted Winn, Coko Clemons, Pastor Julia Porter-Maddox and Simply Determined Ministries, Travis Edwards and POP, as well as with Stellar Award winners: Ricky Dillard and the New Generation Chorale, Donald Lawrence, Yolanda Adams, Byron Cage, Kim Burrell, Myron Butler, Mark Hubbard, and DeWayne Woods.

Alfred has been a member of The faith family of West Point Baptist Church for over 11 years.
