Minister Shantram J. Hawkins

Director of Music

Minister Shantram J. Hawkins is a native of Baton Rouge, LA. Minister Hawkins accepted Christ at an early age. He is a graduate of Southern University- Baton Rouge, with a Bachelor of Arts in Music. He also holds a Master of Arts degree in Human Services from Liberty University, a post- master’s specialist degree in Educational Leadership from American College of Education, and Ph.D in Metaphysical Counseling from the University of Sedona. Currently, he is a second year doctoral student in Educational Leadership at the American College of Education.

Musically, he began studies under the late Addie Mae Washington. At that time, he realized that music was his soulful purpose. He furthered his musical abilities under Pianist Virtuoso, Professor Myrtle David. He is a two-time winner of the Tourgee Debose National Piano Competition. In addition, he received the Southern University Young Artist Award, Cynthia Neal Clemmons Memorial Academic Scholarship and was featured at the 2004 Essence Jazz Festival. Minister Hawkins also appeared as the guest pianist for the International Food Competition as well as several talent shows. Minister Hawkins is a choir master and has recorded original compositions with the Southern University Interdenominational Gospel Choir in 2005.

Minister Shantram began serving as Director of Music at The faith family of West Point Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Dr. L. Bernard Jakes in August 2006.
